Policy for Social Work Class Projects
Regarding Posting or Distribution of Signs, Flyers, Posters, Notices, Brochures, Leaflets or Other Publications
Effective Date: November 7, 2025
General Policy
In addition to the College of Social Work’s Policy Regarding Posting or Distribution of Signs, Flyers, Posters, Notices, Brochures, Leaflets or Other Publications, students may request approval of materials that are directly related to class projects/assignments, including practicum projects/assignments.
In order to be considered for approval:
- The individual making the request must be:
- A current University of Utah student in good standing, and
- Must currently be enrolled in the class associated with the project/assignment. The class must have a Social Work (SW) catalog number (or be cross-listed with a Social Work catalog number).
- The materials must be directly related to a current class project/assignment.
- The project/assignment cannot be related to any sort of fundraising effort that benefits any entity outside of the University of Utah College of Social Work. This restriction is intended to prevent donor confusion about where any monetary gifts may be directed.
Materials Guidelines
Do:
- Materials should be formatted for 8.5 x 11” (portrait) and should include a minimum of 0.5” of space between the edge of the page and any content.
- The materials must include the name of the course, as well as the catalog number and section number of the course associated with the project/assignment. This information should be included at the top or bottom of the materials in a format similar to: “This presentation is part of an assignment for the class [class name], [catalog number-section].” (e.g., “This lecture is part of an assignment for the class Reflexive Social Work 2, SW 6220-001.”)
- The email address of a contact person who is responsible for the project/assignment must be included on the materials.
- If the materials refer to a website, then both the URL and a QR code should be included.
Do Not:
- Do not include any University of Utah logos, unless the materials are directly related to a practicum placement at a University of Utah entity. Do not include the logos of any agency or organization without the express permission of that entity.
- Do not post the materials anywhere in the building without a College of Social Work approval stamp. Unstamped materials and materials posted in unauthorized locations will be removed.
Approval Process
There are six bulletin boards within the College of Social Work where approved materials can potentially be posted. Flyers may not be posted on the same board in duplicate—only one flyer can be posted per bulletin board.
- Materials may be emailed to Jennifer Nozawa (nozawa@socwk.utah.edu) in advance for review. This optional step offers the opportunity to resolve any issues beforehand and is intended to strengthen the materials and streamline the approval process.
- Submit six printed copies to the College of Social Work’s main office (room 101) for official review. Per the College’s posting policy, in most cases, the stamp will include an expiration date 15 days after the date of posting.
- If the flyers are approved, they will be stamped and posted on the bulletin board(s) for which it has been approved.
