Distance Delivered Doctorate

The College of Social Work at the University of Utah will open admissions for Fall 2025 for its distance-delivered doctoral program in August 2024. This program will be offered as a distance-delivered, synchronous cohort model PhD program that will require distance students to be on campus for the first week of each semester in the first two years of the program. Please note that this is not an “online” program; distance students will attend classes remotely at the same time as on-campus classroom-based students and thus will receive the same content and interaction opportunities with students and faculty as on-campus students. Research opportunities and financial support will be equally available to admitted on-campus and distance doctoral students.

Admissions requirements are the same for on-campus and distance students. Please visit our application page for detailed application procedures and requirements. Students who apply during the current admissions cycle will be considered and admitted for the Fall 2024 cohort.

Please feel free to contact PhD Program Coordinator Mirela Rankovic (Mirela.Rankovic@socwk.utah.edu) with any questions regarding the application and admission procedures.

It is highly recommended that all interested students contact the PhD Program Director, Dr. Jeremiah Jaggers (Jeremiah.Jaggers@utah.edu), before submitting an application, to discuss research interest, faculty match, and fit with the program.
