2. How do I take classes in the second week for university credit?
If you are not currently an admitted University of Utah student, but wish to take a class for-credit, you must apply for admission. Students who are not current University of Utah students, or who have not attended for a period of one calendar year since their last enrollment, must apply for admission to the University of Utah in order to take Summer Institute courses at the 5860 or 6860 levels. For information on the admissions process, please call Carrie Allen at (801) 581-8913.
3. How do I register for classes onsite?
Onsite registration will be available throughout the Summer Institute; however, advance registration is encouraged to assure seating availability. Please go to the Information/Registration Desk in room 112 (student lounge) in the College of Social Work at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the first day of the class you wish to attend. This type of registration is available for all payment options and registration options, with the exception of students wishing to take the classes for university credit. To ensure your class selections are available, it is highly recommended that you call (801) 581-6192 before coming to campus to register onsite. If you will be registering onsite you will be charged the late registration fee.
4. How do I Receive NASW/UPA Endorsed Continuing Education Units?
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) have been approved for all courses. There will be forms available at the Information/Registration Desk in the Social Work building, room 112. Individuals seeking CEUs will need to fill out one of these forms indicating courses for which they are seeking CEU credit. The College of Social Work will verify length of attendance for each course and mail the certificate by July 31, 2009. The number of available hours of CEU credits, approved by the Utah Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for social workers (and allied professions, such as LPCs), and endorsed by the Utah Psychological Association (UPA) for psychologists, are listed on each individual course. There is no additional charge for CEU certification.
5. Where do I park?
Free parking for Summer Institute courses will be available in the East Stadium parking lot. Participants may park at their own expense in the Marriott Library/Bookstore pay parking lot.
Handicap parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the Social Work building, but requires a University of Utah guest permit - please call Carrie Allen (801) 581-8913 for more information. Parking is not permitted at reserved spaces, fire lanes, or red curbs.
If participants park anywhere other than the above mentioned reserved lot, the participants are responsible for parking tickets, fines, or hourly-rates (in pay parking lots).
6. What if I need to cancel my registration? What's the policy? What about substitutions?
If you cannot attend a workshop for which you are registered, you must formally cancel your registration. You will be charged a cancellation fee: ten (10) working days prior to the start of a course is $25, five (5) working days prior to the start of a course is $50, on the first day of the course or later, full tuition. Failure to cancel a course for which you are registered will result in an obligation to pay full tuition. Under certain circumstances, you may arrange for a substitute to come in your place. Call Carrie Allen at (801) 581-8913 for details. Credit card refunds will be credited back to the card.
7. Will my Summer Institute course certify me as an expert or trainer in a modality?
