Emma Gross graduated with a Phd in Social Work and Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1986. She has been on the faculty of the College of Social Work since 1983. Her primary areas of teaching and writing are in social welfare policy and institutions; Native American politics (She has published a book entitled, Contemporary Federal Policy Toward American Indians); womens studies (She is an editor of Affilia: Journal of Women and Social Work) and iscurrently involved in developing curriculum for training in Indian child welfare programs with the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute of the Four Corners area.
