Graduation/Convocation

College of Social Work
Convocation for the College of Social Work will be held at Kingsbury Hall on Thursday, May 7, 2009 (Future date: May 6, 2010) at 7:30 p.m. All students graduating from the College of Social Work will have degrees conferred during the convocation ceremony. The order of the processional (promptly at 7:15 p.m.) will be as follows: B.S.W., M.S.W., Ph.D., those to be seated on the stage who are participating in the convocation, and faculty.

Line-up of Graduates
Graduates should arrive in cap and gown by 6:30 p.m. in front of the Park Building located on President's Circle. Graduates will receive final instructions, receive reader cards, and participate in a group picture. Immediately following the group photo, students will line up in alphabetical order for the processional. If the weather is not permitting, students will go directly to Kingsbury Hall. We will meet inside the building on the lower level.

Guest Seating
Guest seating is limited and available on a first come first served basis at Kingsbury Hall. With the academic processional beginning promptly at 7:15 p.m.; families and guests should be seated by that time. Please be aware that a graduation ceremony will be letting out as we are arriving. Inside Kingsbury Hall, seating will be roped off for graduates. Family members will not be allowed to sit in the roped off areas.

Special Seating/Accommodations
Special seating arrangements for guests in wheelchairs or those having difficulty walking are available on the main floor in the very back. Space is very limited, so guests with special needs are encouraged to arrive early.

Disabilities
Students or guests with disabilities attending CSW Commencement activities can request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at 801-581-5020 (voice/TDD). Please give reasonable prior notice to arrange the specific accommodations you may need. If you need wheel chair accommodations, please also contact Delva 581-4239.

Parking
Families are encouraged to drop off elderly guests and those who cannot walk long distances in President's Circle before parking their cars. Because of the graduation ceremony preceding ours, President's Circle may be congested. The closest parking to Kingsbury Hall is the University of Utah Rice/Eccles Stadium, which is directly south of President's Circle. It is strongly suggested that guests park at Rice/Eccles and ride the campus shuttle to and from Kingsbury Hall. Guests may also park in other lots, if available, and catch a University shuttle to Kingsbury Hall.

Photographs
A professional photographer has been authorized to photograph all students. Please note that you are under no obligation to purchase these photographs. Gammell Photography will take a group picture prior to the processional and individual photographs of the official awarding of the diploma.

NOTE: the front row is reserved for people that wish to take pictures and then return to their seats.

Cap and Gown Orders
Click hereto see the University Campus Store cap and gown order deadline. CSW students will be ordering a black gown and a light yellow/maize tassel. The tassel goes on the right side before diploma and left side after diploma. Go to University Campus Store for additional information.

University-Wide Commencement

Graduates attending the general commencement should arrive in cap and gown by 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot south of Milton Bennion Hall.
